TO STAR IN 'PETE'S DRAGON'

Some casting news for a most delightful project: Disney is eyeing Bryce Dallas Howard for the female lead in their live action PETE'S DRAGON remake! The movie will take place in a forest where little Pete (Oakes Fegley) lives with his pet dragon Elliot, after his parents died in a car accident. Robert Redford will be playing a local resident who tells tales of dragons that no one in town believes, and Bryce might play his daughter! Oona Laurence will play the daughter of a mill owner, while the other characters will include a forest ranger who finds young Pete, the mill owner and his greedy brother. The dragon will be done as CGI!

DRAGON RIDERS OF PERN
Speaking of dragons, Sarah Cornwell has been hired to pen the DRAGON RIDERS OF PERN adaptation, based on the first book in Anne McCaffrey's 22-novel series which follows a young girl named Lessa, the only one to survive the assassination of her family, who rules over part of the planet Pern. She disguises herself as a servant in the house of  the new ruler, but her surprisingly strong telepathic abilities take her on a journey to restore the longtime tradition of dragon-riding, as she discovers the secret history of her homeland.

'JONATHAN STRANGE & MR NORRELL' REVEAL 1ST IMAGE

And staying in the fantasy genre, check out the first image from BBC's new TV series JONATHAN STRANGE & MR. NORRELL in which Bertie Carvel stars as aspiring London magician Jonathan Strange, while Eddie Marsan's Mr Norrell uses his own magical abilities to dazzle townsfolk in the north of England. The destinies of these two men become intertwined during the beginnings of the Industrial Revolution.

DISNEY TO TACKLE 'GOBLINS'

Strange creatures will also be seen in Disney's GOBLINS which is to be directed by Peter Segal! The movie will be an adaptation of  'Goblins! A Survival Guide And Fiasco In Four Parts', a book written by Ari Berk and illustrated by Hugo award winning Brian Froud, who was Jim Henson’s conceptual designer on 'Labyrinth' and 'Dark Crystal'! The book is a fantasy encyclopaedia of goblins, a subspecies of faery, maleficent creatures that cause all manner of havoc in the human realm!

One of our favourite directors Tarsem Singh (IMMORTALS, CELL, FALL) is preparing another sf action movie THE PANOPTICON and it seems that Keanu Reeves might take the lead role of a man who goes on a race against time, after receiving a package that includes a pre-recorded message from himself warning that he is the only man who can save the world. He must figure out this complex puzzle to save all of humanity before it's too late.

TOM CRUISE TO MENTOR HIGH- LANDER, DJIMON HOUNSOU KING ARTHUR?
In the news from the epic front, Djimon Hounsou might take the role of King Arthur's mentor instead of Idris Elba in Guy Ritchie's KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE: KING ARTHUR historical adventure, while Tom Cruise is one of the actors that the producers would like to see in the reboot of famous HIGHLANDER epic action. He'd get the role that Sean Connery had of a mentor to Christopher Lambert's immortal warrior!

BBC'S 'THE DRESSER'

IAN MCKELLEN AND ANTHONY HOPKINS IN WW2 TV SERIES

While we are waiting for Sir Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi to start shooting the second season of outstandingly hilarious VICIOUS sitcom this January, McKellen will join another thespian legend in BBC's THE DRESSER! The adaptation of Ronald Harwood's play will see Anthony Hopkins play an ill actor, whose dresser (McKellen) supports him and his theatre company during the Second World War.
SCORSESE & DEL TORO FOR 'CORTES' EPIC SERIES
Over at HBO, historical series CORTES is being prepared with Martin Scorsese and Benicio del Toro producing! This expensive epic drama will tell the sweeping story of Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés, who brought down the Aztec empire; Malinche, the Mayan girl who helped him do it; and Montezuma, the Aztec leader he befriended and finally put in chains. Del Toro could take the lead role too!

I showed you a gorgeous CINDERELLA trailer yesterday, and today here's another truly beautiful one: enchanting drama AGE OF ADALINE will arrive into theatres next April with our beloved Blake Lively playing a young woman, born at the turn of 20th century, who is rendered ageless after an accident in the 1930s. As she watches her friends and family members get older and eventually die, Adaline learns that it will take meeting her new true love to stop this curse. After years upon years of living a solitary life, she meets a man who might be worth losing her immortality for. The cast also includes Ellen Burstyn, as Adaline's 81-year-old daughter, Harrison Ford, and Michiel Huisman.

 'TABOO' HISTORICAL ADVENTURE DRAMA INTO SERIES

I have announced this project a year or so ago, but now the info is that FX has officially ordered TABOO historical series! Actor Tom Hardy has written the drama with his father Chips Hardy and he will also take the lead role of a 19th century adventurer in Africa! To be executive produced by Ridley Scott, the eight episode first season should air sometime in 2016 and it will follow James Keziah Delaney (Tom Hardy), a rogue adventurer who returns from Africa with 14 ill-gotten diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father. Refusing to sell the family business to the East India Company, he sets out to build his own trade and shipping empire and finds himself playing a very dangerous game!

CHRIS PRATT IS

'COWBOY, NINJA, VIKING'
While his fans are, for some reason, raising havoc around the net because he wasn't voted the Sexiest Man Alive this year (People magazine gave that title deservedly to Chris Hemsworth), Chris Pratt is pondering on future projects. According to 'Collider' he will lead the cast in COWBOY NINJA VIKING as an assassin with Multiple Personality Disorder who possesses the skills of a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking! Pratt will be Duncan, a counter-intelligence agent known as a 'triplet' because of his three distinct personalities. Duncan escapes his handlers, hunting down the millionaire who masterminded the 'Triplet' program. As you know, Chris also has JURASSIC WORLD ahead of him!

ELLA IN A BLUE GOWN
The story of Cinderella follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother Lady Tremaine (marvellous Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella's father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella's hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham Carter) steps forward and, armed with a pumpkin and a few mice, changes Cinderella's life forever. Hayley Atwell plays CINDERELLA's mother, Derek Jacobi plays the King, and Stellan Skarsgård is the King's scheming adviser.
