We're talking about new movie adaptations of popular books, people, starting with THE FIFTH WAVE science fiction novel by Rick Yancey which is getting its big screen version over at Sony Pictures! That adaptation already has its main stars - Nick Robinson and Chloe Moretz will take the lead roles in the story set in the aftermath of an alien invasion on Earth. Humanity has survived four waves of the alien attack, with THE FIFTH WAVE about to happen. The story revolves around a  girl named Cassie Sullivan (Chloe Moretz), who is on the run while trying to save her younger brother. Newcomer Alex Roe is also in the cast and will play Evan, who may hold the key to defeating the extraterrestrial scourge.

Always likeable and dear Nick Robinson from MELISSA AND JOEY sitcom, plays a boy named Zombie, who Cassie previously had a crush on in school, but is now a ruthless paramilitary leader with numerous alien kills under his belt. In today's television news, 'Deadline' reports that AMC's upcoming new postapocalyptic show GALYNTINE has added yet another cast member. One of the hot gossips today come from 'The Hollywood Reporter' which reveals that Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, has met with director Shane Black (who was hired yesterday to helm the reboot of PREDATOR) to discuss his potential gig in DOC SAVAGE movie! He is one of the most popular characters in the pulps of the 1930s and '40s. Trained since birth to be nearly superhuman in every way, DOC SAVAGE uses his skills and powers to fight evil all over the world. Chris Hunksworth himself has tones of sequels to shoot ahead of him: as Thor in AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON next year and in THOR 3 in 2017, and then AVENGERS 3 in 2019. There is also the sequel SNOWWHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN 2. He is also to appear in Spielberg's sf epic ROBOPOCALYPSE. But we shall first watch him next year in HEART OF THE SEA about a crew stranded at sea in the 19th century.

With the shooting scheduled to start next month in Ireland, the plot has been revealed for exciting thriller HIGH-RISE which boasts a totally mouthwatering cast with Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans, James Purefoy, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller and Elisabeth Moss. The big screen adaptation of JG Ballard's bestselling novel will centre on a new residential tower built on the eve of the Thatcher era. Designed by visionary architect Anthony Royal (Jeremy Irons), the luxurious tower is build on the site of what will soon become the world's financial hub, and is meant as a solution to the city's problems. Young doctor Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) becomes seduced by both the HIGH-RISE and Royal, striking up a relationship with the architect's devoted aide Charlotte (Sienna Miller). But discontent soon develops among the tower's residents, and Laing is shocked when Richard Wilder (Luke Evans) - a charismatic provocateur bent on inciting the situation - shows him what's really going on beneath the surface. As the residents break into tribal factions, Laing finds himself in the middle of mounting violence.

Check it out people! The first absolutely mindblowing trailer for Luke Evan's epic fantasy action adventure DRACULA UNTOLD is here and it brings all kinds of epic fun! Weaving both the historical and the fictional characters DRACULA UNTOLD explores the origin of famous Dracula, mixing vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad Tepes the Impaler. It seeks to depict Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war. Starring Luke Evans the film is out this October!

DRACULA TIDBITS

It was originally supposed to be directed by Alex Proyas with Sam Worthington in the lead role and with Abbie Cornish playing his wife, but then they hired Gary Shore (this is his first feature film, before this he was making commercials) who had smaller budget in mind. Luke Evans took over the lead role, and along with him the original name DRACULA YEAR ZERO was changed into DRACULA UNTOLD and later on the release date was postponed from August to October. It is interesting that this is Luke Evans' fourth time to play a God or a royal: he was God Apollo in CLASH OF THE TITANS, Supreme God Zeus in IMMORTALS, Bard the Bowman future king of Dale in THE HOBBIT and now he is the prince of Wallachia!

THE CAST OF DRACULA

Welsh superstar Luke Evans is the historical medieval Prince Vlad Tepes, the Wallachian ruler who would later on become the inspiration for Bram Stoker's vampire. In the film he is a young 15th century prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire!

Dominic Cooper will play Turkish sultan Mehmed (It is interesting that this won't be Cooper's first time around vampires, since he recently starred in ABRAHAM LINCOLN VAMPIRE HUNTER! ),  who is famous for conquering Constantinople and ending the Byzantine Empire.
SARAH GADON IS MIRENA

Sarah Gadon, whom we watched as a medieval wife of a nobleman in WORLD WITHOUT END, will be that again since she will play Dracula's wife Mirena!

 Zach McGowan, whom we watched as the pirate chief in BLACK SAILS, will be a leader again but this time as Shkelgim, a gypsy chief!

LES MISERABLES star Samantha Barks will be Baba Yaga, an angelic woman from Eastern European folklore who turns into an atrociously deadly witch.

Thor Kristjansson plays Bright Eyes, who was enslaved as a young boy and is now an Ottoman Empire assassin, while GAME OF THRONES' Art Parkinson will portray Dracula's son, Ingeras.

DEZZY'S HISTORY CLASS
Vlad Tepes, or Vlad the Impaler, was the 15th century prince of Wallachia who inspired the character of Dracula (the name comes from his Draculesti dynasty). He ruled Wallachia (part of today's Romania) while the whole Balkan peninsula suffered under the ruthless Ottoman tyranny. He was a member of the Order of the Dragon and is actually considered a hero in many countries since he protected Christian people from Turkish aggressors. His bloodthirsty reputation from the tales comes from his practice of impaling his enemies. It is believed that he had tens of thousands of victims.

I've told you recently that History's six part series will chronicle the American Revolution from the Boston Tea Party to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Set to play the army general who later on becomes the president of USA, O'Mara joins Dean Norris as Benjamin Franklin, Ben Barnes as Sam Adams, Henry Thomas as John Adams, Marton Csokas as general Gage, and Rafe Spall as John Hancock! 

'Z NATION' ZOMBIE SHOW

CAST HAS BEEN REVEALED!
The worldwide success of THE WALKING DEAD zombie show has influenced the trend of other apocalyptic series of that kind, and I have informed you before that SyFy is preparing their own zombie show Z NATION and now the cast for the new drama has been announced! To start airing later this Autumn the 13 episode series depicts the epic struggle to save humanity after a zombie apocalypse. Three years have passed since the zombie virus has gutted the country, and a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood. Although the antibodies he carries are the world’s last, best hope for a vaccine, he hides a dark secret that threatens them all. First trailer has also been released for upcoming moving and tender love drama LOVE IS STRANGE in which John Lithgow and Alfred Molina play a gay couple, Ben and George! Just after they finally get married after decades of relationship, George loses his job and they must sell their apartment and - victims of the relentless New York City real estate market - temporarily live apart until they can find an affordable new home. While George moves in with two cops who live down stairs, Ben lands in Brooklyn with his nephew, his wife, and their temperamental teenage son. While struggling with the pain of separation, Ben and George are further challenged by the intergenerational tensions and capricious family dynamics of their new living arrangements. DEZZY'S HISTORY LESSON
Gallipoli Battle was one of the biggest allied losses. It was fought by British and French armies battling for the city of Istanbul and the Gallipoli peninsula against the Ottoman forces. The aim was to secure a sea route to Russia. Many Australian and New Zealand soldiers fought as well and the campaign is often considered to mark the birth of national consciousness in those two countries. I've informed you before that Russell Crowe is directing another Gallipoli movie THE WATER DIVINER which will also star Olga Kurylenko and Jai Courtney following an Australian man who travels to Turkey after the Battle of Gallipoli to try and locate his three missing sons.

According to 'Deadline' Scandinavian star Alicia Vikander has just scored two new lead roles with amazing partners. First she will join Michael Fassbender in LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS. The movie adaptation of M.L. Stedman novel brings the story of a lighthouse keeper on a remote island in Australia who together with his wife rescues a baby they find in a rowboat and raise it as their own. Alicia will also join Eddie Redmayne in THE DANISH GIRL inspired by the story of Danish painter Einar Wegener and his wife, and the love they shared even as he became the first man to undergo a sex change operation in 1931. The first trailer has been released for Philippe Falardeau drama THE GOOD LIE with Reese Witherspoon and Corey Stoll in the lead roles! They were known simply as "The Lost Boys": Orphaned by the brutal Civil war in Sudan that began in 1983, these young victims travelled as many as a thousand miles on foot in search of safety. Fifteen years later, a humanitarian effort would bring 3600 lost boys and girls to America. In THE GOOD LIE, Philippe Falardeau brings the story of their survival and triumph to life. Coming to cinemas this October, the film will see Witherspoon playing determined advocate Carrie Davis, who works tirelessly on behalf of four young Lost Boys of Sudan once they arrive in the US.
