GALLIPOLI STORY
MEN WHO WOULDN'T SHUT UP!
Three journalists, Charles Bean (Joel Jackson), Ellis Ashmead Bartlett (Hugh Dancy) and Phillip Schuler (Sam Worthington), arrive at Gallipoli with the invading British and Allied troops in 1915. They will report the war but are prevented from getting out the true story of an unfolding disaster. From encampment in Cairo to Anzac Cove to the evacuation, this is the story of journalists who will not accept that truth be the first casualty. This is the story of the men who will not shut up. The actions of these men will help change the course of the campaign, ensure that a strategic disaster becomes a legend of human heroism, and leave an impregnable mark on each of their lives. Their commitment to the stories of the men turned the war from a strategic failure into a triumph of the human spirit.
DEZZY'S HISTORY LESSON
Gallipoli Battle was one of the biggest allied losses. It was fought by British and French armies battling for the city of Istanbul and the Gallipoli peninsula against the Ottoman forces. The aim was to secure a sea route to Russia. Many Australian and New Zealand soldiers fought as well and the campaign is often considered to mark the birth of national consciousness in those two countries. I've informed you before that Russell Crowe is directing another Gallipoli movie THE WATER DIVINER which will also star Olga Kurylenko and Jai Courtney following an Australian man who travels to Turkey after the Battle of Gallipoli to try and locate his three missing sons.
