series Suleyman the Magnificent has set all records of ratings in Turkey and
many countries in the Balkans. The series has become known for scandals and
criticized by many public and political organizations. Turkish television
received about 70,000 complaints for distortions of historical facts.
Suleyman the Magnificent is a historical drama that impresses with film set and
costumes. This is one of the best and most expensive projects of Turkey
television filmed in over a year and a half.
The plot of the series is based on historical facts obtained from various
sources. Based actions were obtained from historical evidence, short stories
and books in Turkey's history.
The series shows the difficult path of Ukrainian beauty Alexandra, who as a
young girl was abducted and brought to Istanbul where resold as a slave until one day Turkish vizier gave her to Sultan. Her
situation seemed obvious – she will spend her whole life in the harem, but
everything turned out differently ...
After converting to Islam, she was named Hürrem. Her natural beauty and
intelligence will help her to become the wife of Sultan Suleyman the
Magnificent.
Suleyman the Magnificent was known as the most ruthless ruler of the Ottoman
Empire.
Special attention was given to the selection of actors. For the actor
immediately fell selection on 40-year-old Halit Ergenca, while to the actress it
was devoted more attention. Actresses from several countries were auditioned
and for the Ukrainian beauty was selected talented Meriem Uzeri. Although
Meriem has Turkish roots she was born and raised in Germany.
